A guide to quality ratings in tinting materials
Here’s why VLT, IR, and UV ratings matter for privacy, comfort, and safety.
Visible Light Transmission (VLT)
VLT is the percentage of light that tinting materials allow through: between 0% and 100%.
The lower the VLT percentage, the darker the tint will be.
The higher the VLT percentage, the lighter (or more transparent) the tint will be.
Note: tint is subject to a +/-3% difference.

Infrared (IR) Rejection
IR rejection is the measure of the amount of infrared solar radiation that a tinting material blocks or “rejects”.
It’s measured in percentages. The higher the quality of the tint, the higher the percentage of IR rejection.

IR = Heat
UV Protection
Blocking ultra-violet radiation is the most important aspect of tinting.
Why? UV radiation is what causes sunburns, and that’s why all of our tinting materials block 99% of UV radiation.
